Port Norfolk Walking TourOut & AboutDiscover Port Norfolk, one of Boston’s southernmost neighborhoods, located just across the Neponset River from Milton and Quincy. Once a hub of manufacturing in the late 1800s, the area supplied nails, lumber, and other materials for the city’s building boom. It was also home to the George P. Lawley shipyard, where subchasers were built during WWI and yachts were crafted during Boston’s late-19th-century yachting craze. Many historic buildings remain, and we’ll explore their past and present uses. The walk follows the Neponset Trail, ending at Joseph Finnegan Park and the mouth of the Neponset River.Spring 2026 -

QigongFitness & DanceWith roots in traditional Chinese medicine, qigong’s goal is to cultivate and balance our life energy, or “qi.” Qigong practice typically involves meditative, slow-flowing movement coordinated with deep rhythmic breathing to produce a calm state of mind. WaitlistQuilting for BeginnersFine Arts & CraftsLearn the basic techniques of making a quilt: cutting fabric, piecing the blocks, and sewing the quilt top. The finishing steps of pinning the quilt layers, quilting the quilt, and binding the edges will be demonstrated in the last two classes. We will use a traditional design that you can modify in size from a table runner to a throw quilt (depending on the fabric you select). A well-tuned sewing machine is required, and although this class is for beginner quilters, you must know the basics of how to use it. Please note: To keep up with the pace of the class, independent sewing will be necessary between classes. A materials list will be emailed once the class has reached minimum enrollment. Royall House & Slave Quarters TourOut & AboutTour the house and grounds of Medford’s Royall House and Slave Quarters, part of the 600-acre Ten Hills Farm and home to the largest slaveholders in Massachusetts history, as well as the enslaved Africans who made their lavish way of life possible. The house is among the finest local examples of colonial-era buildings still standing, and the slave quarters are the only remaining slave quarters in New England. Today, this museum’s architecture, household items, and archaeological artifacts bear witness to intertwined stories of wealth and bondage and explore the meanings of freedom and independence before, during, and since the American Revolution Children ages 10+ are welcome to register if accompanied by a registered adult. Please note: The museum is only wheelchair accessible on the first floor of the Royall House and the Slave Quarters.
