Bike (& Scooter) SafetyLanguages & Life Skills (K-12)All participants must bring their bike (or scooter) and a bike helmet! Hop on your bike (or scooter) and join Officer Bryan White and other members of the Arlington Police Department for a fun and informative course on bike safety. Learn proper hand signals, how to travel on bike lanes and the bike path, and general tips on how to ride safely to school and around town. Please note: While this program is free, pre-registration is required for each child attending as space is limited. Please consider making a donation to our scholarship fund.Spring 2026 -
Chess WizardsGames & Fantasy (K-12)Considered one of the greatest games ever invented, chess teaches many important life concepts such as how to win graciously, how to accept defeat with dignity, concentration, and sportsmanship. Learn chess rules, positional tactics, and basics to more advanced moves with the guidance of an experienced chess master. Driver's Education through CS Driving SchoolHigh School & College Planning (K-12)PLEASE NOTE: To register, please visit CS Driving School. Select Locations then click Register Now under Arlington High School. The Driver Education Program is required in Massachusetts for teens who would like to get a Driver’s License between 16.5 and 18 years old. This program gives you everything you need to earn your Driver Education Certificate and become eligible for your road test. Package valid for two years from start date. The $1,165 package includes: 30 Hours Classroom Instruction Held at AHS Students must be at least 15 years, 9 months to begin. 12 Hours Behind-The-Wheel Offered seven days a week with pickup and drop-off at AHS or another arlington location. Scheduled through the CS Driving portal after turning 16 and receiving Learner’s Permit. 6 Hours In-Car Observation of another student driver Package Add-Ons: (Can be purchased at time of registration or later through the Student Portal) 2-Hour Parent/Guardian Class—$40 Required before a student can schedule behind-the-wheel hours. Certificate of Completion—$30 Electronic Driver Education Completion Certificate issued by the RMV. Required before a student (under 18) can schedule a road test. Road Test Sponsorship—$215 Optional service for a weekend group road test scheduled at CS Driving School, 2 Winter Street, Waltham. Vehicle and Sponsor provided. Hiking ClubGet Moving (K-12)Get outdoors and enjoy the natural world. Hike local wilderness areas such as the Middlesex Fells Reservation, Prospect Hill Park, and the Western Greenway, led by an experienced guide. Engage your curiosity, seek out adventure, build camaraderie, and increase your stamina on hikes of varying distances and challenges. Gain confidence as you learn how to read trail maps, use a compass, and employ other navigation techniques, as well as read the forest for clues about the non-human life around us. Our club will culminate in an optional full-day hike* in the White Mountain National Forest. Transportation from Gibbs/OMS and all necessary equipment will be provided for both the club and the hike.Spring 2026 -
In-Control Crash Prevention Training (Information Only)High School & College Planning (K-12)Register at In-Control Crash Prevention In-Control Crash Prevention is a non-profit training program committed to helping reduce automobile crashes through hands-on training. Motor vehicle crashes are the number one killer of teens nationwide and the main causes are speed and inexperience. Students and their families can learn safety skills that can only be taught at In-Control’s unique closed course environment. Learn how to handle skidding, panic stops, tailgating, and emergency lane changes. This 4.5 hour course has been highly recommended to us by CS Driving School as a way to better learn how to handle unexpected driving situations. Land of Ithreach: Dungeons & DragonsGames & Fantasy (K-12)Go on an adventure set in the land of Ithreach, a fantasy setting where the seasons change and the story grows. If you’ve previously played D&D with Roll Models, you may continue to play using your character at their current level or create a new 3rd level character. Thicker Than Water: Dispatched on a seemingly simple errand to a wood elf city, our heroes soon find themselves in the middle of a mystery: some of the elven citizens have fallen asleep and cannot wake. New and experienced players are welcome. Players may continue to use their character from Mind, Body and Soul at 2nd level, or begin a new character at 1st level (using choices from the Basic Rules and The Player’s Handbook). Metalsmithing: Silver Jewelry MakingArts & Crafts (K-12)Incorporate personal design touches as you learn or refine fundamental metalsmithing skills in this all-level jewelry-making workshop. Beginning makers will fabricate a textured sterling silver band ring and a pendant with a bezel-set stone. Students with prior experience in metalsmithing/jewelry can further develop their skills with sterling silver while fabricating earrings and making a chain link bracelet.
