Climbing Club: Intro to Climbing & Belaying

ACE Kids K-12 / Get Moving (K-12) -
Winter 2026

Challenge yourself on the brand-new climbing wall in the AHS gym. Whether you’re a complete beginner or have some experience, get the skills needed to safely belay on a ropes course, including how to fasten your climbing harness, tie a figure 8 knot, and participate in a team belay. High schoolers will also have the opportunity to learn how to solo belay using the PBUS (pull, brake, under, slide) method. 

Jon Brennan

Jon Brennan has worked as a ropes course manager for 12 years and a high school math teacher for 16 years. He currently works at AHS and he is looking forward to helping students learn how to safely belay on a ropes course.
