Explore your creative vision in this dynamic, open studio-style class for intermediate and advanced students. With one-on-one personalized guidance, you’ll navigate from an idea to project completion, advancing your skills along the way. The instructor will help you determine which metals and stones to purchase before the first class. Prerequisite: Students enrolled in this class should have completed three beginner-level classes in metalsmithing technique and/or possess basic skills such as soldering, sawing, flex shaft use, sanding/polishing, and be able to work safely with basic shop tools and equipment. You must also be able to work independently between instructor consultations. Incorporate personal design touches as you learn or refine fundamental metalsmithing skills in this all-level jewelry-making workshop. Beginning makers will fabricate a textured sterling silver band ring and a pendant with a bezel-set stone. Students with prior experience in metalsmithing/jewelry can further develop their skills with sterling silver while fabricating earrings and making a chain link bracelet. Multiple soldering and finishing techniques will be covered, and individual design is encouraged. No class 5/26

This immersive mixed-media studio offers a relaxed and supportive space to explore a variety of techniques and materials with as much or as little guidance as you need. You will experiment with gelli plates, acrylic paints, stencils, ink sprays, ephemera, personalized stamps, and natural and found objects. Create a variety of projects, including collages, bookmarks, accordion books, canvas work, and art journal pages. Whether you’re just starting out with mixed media or looking to expand your skills, you’ll be inspired to think outside the box, try new approaches, and push the limits of your artistic expression. Materials: Bring your favorite acrylic paints in colors of your choice, including black and white, and two flat brushes. Feel free to bring your own stash of paper scraps, fabric bits, or interesting found objects to personalize your work. All other materials provided.
