If breakfast is your favorite meal of the day, then come try foods found in diners, bakeries, and even fine restaurants. Recipes include creative takes on eggs, pancakes, breakfast casserole, French toast, and fruit smoothies. At the end of the week, you’ll have new skills and a recipe book to share with family and friends.

Let’s get creative with electricity! Create your own electronics such as light-up greeting cards, electric games, mazes, and even musical instruments. Each class consists of a circuitry lesson and a hands-on electronics project using components like lights, buzzers, switches, motors, and sensors. Most class days will include a project you can take home.

Bring legendary creatures to life in clay. Sculpt mighty dragons, towering squids, serpent gods, and other fantastical beings inspired by myths and stories from around the world. Craft detailed action figures, design miniature homes and dioramas for them to inhabit, and let your imagination rule the realm.

Explore many different ways to create, design, and plan a comic book/strip sequence. Practice character development, story building, facial expression, and figure drawing to make your characters come alive. Look at samples of graphic novels, traditional comics, manga, and anime, then make your own comic that reflects your own voice and style.

Love dolls and stuffies? Learn how to make your own! We’ll use yarn, paper towel rolls, felt, paper, wooden pegs, and fabric swatches to make a wide variety of dolls and stuffed animals. Use your imagination to craft a different friend each day and take home your creations at the end of the week.

Learn to draw animals, vehicles, plants, ocean creatures, and more, using a combination of basic shapes. Pick your favorites and combine them to make a scene that you will color with a variety of media. Each day we will focus on a different theme and build on our drawing knowledge to make more elaborate pictures. There’s no right or wrong in this class—drawing is all about having fun!

Discover your creative voice through hands-on exploration of a wide range of art materials. Experiment with texture, line, color, and shape while bringing both 2D and 3D projects to life. Using paints, pencils and found objects, we will create paintings, prints, collages, and more.

Learn amazing tricks that will wow your friends and family. Real circus performers will teach you skills including hula hooping, spinning plates, balancing objects, twirling flags, and juggling. We will take our circus to new heights as we walk on stilts, perform in groups, and weave our acts into one big circus spectacular.

In a one-of-a-kind experience, explore community, art, and self-discovery by becoming your own personal hero in an interactive world of live-action roleplay (LARP). Through themed games, art projects, and interactive theater, we’ll create fantastic adventures.

Get ready for exciting LEGO adventures! Build a daring helicopter rescue, a rocket-ready space shuttle, or a city overrun with monsters—anything is possible. Work with your team to dream it up, build it, and then show off your creation.

Calling all Pokéfans! Learn more about the wonderful world of Pokémon. We’ll cover both the trading card game and the video game series, and explore the culture surrounding this global gaming phenomenon that was created way back in 1996. There will be open casual play and supervised trading, as well as games and demo decks available for you to try. Bring any cards you have, but don’t worry if you forget—everyone will go home with an EX Battle Deck. “Gotta catch ‘em all!”

Build a city in a virtual Minecraft world while exploring real-world concepts. Design homes and businesses, manage budgets, and learn about profit, loss, and supply and demand. Serve on a city council, draft laws, and vote on a city constitution. Collaborate in committees to make decisions and design buildings that bring your city to life.

Make your own music video. Working solo or in small groups, we will collaborate to plan, choreograph, make props, and learn how to film and edit a music video using iMovie. At the end of the week, we’ll celebrate with a music video award show.

Bundle up and head outside to sharpen your detective skills. Humans have jackets and grocery stores, but how do animals cope with cold, stormy weather? Track signs of hibernation, spot critters that stay active, and search for clues about their food. Observe, hypothesize, and experiment as you examine specimens, create animal crafts, and explore adaptations. Remember your jacket and boots—unless severe lightning or heavy rain makes it unsafe, we’ll be outdoors, using snowshoes if needed.

Spend the school vacation week outside exploring and hiking in different nature areas each day. Winter hiking is a great way to get outdoors and enjoy the views offered by a leafless landscape, the crispness of the air, the way the forest sounds, and warming up on a cold day. Gain confidence as you learn how to navigate and stay warm. We may even use microspikes on ice and snowshoes for snowy terrain. Warm drinks and hiking snacks will be provided, but you will need to bring your own lunch. Please note that this is a 3-day program. Rain dates may apply. Some necessary equipment (including hiking backpacks, microspikes, snowshoes, and headlamps) will be provided. Please have sturdy and waterproof boots, wool or synthetic layers, and cold weather outerwear. Gloves and a winter hat are required.

Learn to embrace obstacles as an opportunity for fun and exploration and see your physical environment through “parkour vision,” where the whole world becomes your playground. Designed for a wide range of fitness levels and abilities.

Learn about what it means to write, debug, and execute computer programs that communicate with different robotic devices. Using the power of code, we’ll turn Sphero SPRK+ robots into Magic 8 Balls, automated red light/green light games, and the arcade classic Pong. Unruly Splats will become voting machines, relay races, guessing games, and more.

Unleash your creativity by building worlds and bringing your ideas (and your toys) to life frame-by-frame through the art of stop motion animation. From conceptualization to execution, you will write, storyboard, direct, photograph, and animate a mini-movie using Stop Motion Studio. End the week with a screening of the movies we make.
