    Start Knitting
    Fine Arts & Crafts

Learn the basics of knitting. Choose your project: a cozy hat, warm scarf, or wrist warmers. We will cover casting on, casting off, the knit stitch, the purl stitch, picking up dropped stitches, adding a new ball of yarn, seaming, and weaving in the ends. Depending on time and interest, we may also explore knitting in the round, as well as simple texture, color work, and shaping by adding a basic cable, making stripes, and using increases/decreases. This class is for beginners and those looking for a refresher. Please note: Materials will be provided for the first class. Once you decide on your project, you will be guided on what to purchase. This class is not an advanced knitting circle. No personal projects; students must choose one of the specified projects.
