Learn a few embroidery stitches, including backstitch and split stitch, and discover how to use them to stitch your own creative designs. You can make custom patches to iron onto a tote bag or craft a one-of-a-kind piece of art to hang in your room. Develop a new skill that lets you add a personal touch to everyday items and express your creativity in a fun, unique way.

Learn to hand sew three-dimensional “puffies” out of felt—everything from food, animals, shapes, and even emojis. We’ll sew and stuff our puffies, then embellish them with sparkles and embroidery. Create your own designs or find inspiration from the class.

Unleash your creativity by making bracelets, necklaces, or other wearable items using both typical and unusual materials. To show you what jewelry can be, we’ll turn to history to see what people from different ages and places like to wear. Whether you decide that your look is bright and bold or simple and straightforward, you’ll assemble a collection of fantastic fashion items.

Turn wood into something special by building a step stool, wall clock, and tic-tac-toe board. You’ll plan, assemble, and personalize your creations while learning to safely use tools like screwdrivers, mallets, and hammers. Then sand and paint each project to make it special.

Incorporate personal design touches as you learn or refine fundamental metalsmithing skills in this all-level jewelry-making workshop. Beginning makers will fabricate a textured sterling silver band ring and a pendant with a bezel-set stone. Students with prior experience in metalsmithing/jewelry can further develop their skills with sterling silver while fabricating earrings and making a chain link bracelet. Multiple soldering and finishing techniques will be covered, and individual design is encouraged.

Get ready to explore the playful possibilities of printmaking. You’ll create awesome, one-of-a-kind works of art using all sorts of cool printmaking techniques. Stamp with potatoes, make prints with leaves, and even use squishy stuffed animals (don’t worry—the instructor will provide the plushies). You’ll also create multicolored, layered images with styrofoam and design your own mandala prints using foam and cardboard.

Explore the fundamentals of printmaking as you learn about various techniques, tools, and materials while discovering the rich history of this expressive art form. Experiment with layering colors and patterns through the creation of monoprints, relief prints, reductive prints, and cyanotypes (sun prints). You’ll be encouraged to express yourself, solve creative challenges, and embrace the joy of artistic creation.

Enjoy learning the fundamentals of playing and painting with watercolors, including proper brush selection and application techniques. We’ll learn about cool and warm tones, how to add dimension with hues and texture, and so much more. We will also experiment with surfaces, resists, stencils and styles to immerse ourselves in the wonders of watercolor.
