Shimmy, shake, and stretch as we explore various dance styles. Learn basic steps, catch the beat, and groove to the music. Increase your artistic individuality and confidence as you show off your best moves, and enjoy being part of an energetic and supportive group. Please note the late class start time: non-HASP students who are enrolled in this class will need to return to the school lobby for the 2:15 start time. They may not remain in the school building between 1:00 and 2:15 pm.

Ready to conquer public speaking? Turn fear into fun as you build confidence through improv games, classroom newscasts, skits, and even friendly staring contests. Strengthen your voice projection, posture, and presence while learning to engage an audience and craft persuasive arguments.

Get into the groove of hip hop steps and style as you work on confidence, creativity, and musicality. We’ll also freestyle to the music of your choice. Using your new skills, we will work together to create a class routine.

Make a movie! Your production team will brainstorm story ideas and write a script featuring witty dialog and convincing characters, with a role for everyone. Then you’ll take turns directing, acting, and filming with iPads. You'll edit your footage into a final movie that includes panning, transition shots, special effects, green screen backgrounds, and credits. We’ll screen our movies together and you can also watch yours again at home.

Turn on your theatrical charm, wave your wand, and make some magic happen. Learn sleight-of-hand skills and performance panache as you work on new tricks each week. We will construct and customize props, explain the illusions, and learn about timing. Take home your magic tricks to keep practicing.

Team up to write and illustrate storyboards that bring your heroes to life. Use a green screen to add dynamic backgrounds and special effects as you produce your action-packed movie.

Learn to keep a steady beat, read music, and use digital instruments to create your own songs. Build rich chords, identify instruments by their sound, and shape your musical ideas with feeling. Piano keyboards will be used to enhance your learning.
