Japanese for Beginners
Learn the basics of spoken and written Japanese while building practical skills for everyday communication. Practice expressing yourself in common situations and develop confidence using simple conversational Japanese. Strengthen your reading and writing skills while learning the two phonetic alphabets, Hiragana and Katakana, with an introduction to Kanji (Chinese characters). Designed for beginners with no prior experience, this class begins with essential phrases and progresses to simple grammar and foundational language skills. Please note: Beginning in January, this class will shift to an in-person format.
Students are required to purchase a textbook for this class. Please do not purchase until we confirm minimum enrollment.
Required text: Genki Textbook Volume 1, 3rd edition (Eri Banno, Yoko Ikeda, Yutaka Ohno, Chikako Shinagawa, Kyoko Tokashiki)
