The Art of Ukrainian Pysanky

Discover the traditional Ukrainian art of pysanky led by a native Ukrainian artist. We’ll explore the history, symbolism, and wax-resist technique as you create your own decorated eggs using traditional tools and dyes, including real eggs, beeswax, and a tool called a kistka. Attend one or both sessions.

Intro to Pysanky: We’ll focus on foundational techniques and traditional designs as you learn the wax-resist process from start to finish. Complete one or two finished pysanky while gaining an appreciation for this rich folk art tradition.

Pysanky Ornaments: Create a pysanka using traditional wax-resist techniques and then explore simple ways to turn your finished egg into a hanging ornament for seasonal display or gifting.
