Oil Painting
Build a strong foundation in oil painting while learning a broad range of techniques, materials, and processes. Explore layering and glazing techniques, brushwork, additive media and their properties, safety, painting surfaces and panel construction, and composition planning. You’ll also learn how acrylic and oil paints can be used together effectively. The course begins with structured skill-building exercises and progresses to more open-ended, multi-step creative projects.
All materials for class are provided. The instructor will give you a list of optional materials to continue at home.
Leo Muellner
Instructor
Leo Muellner has been a working artist and arts educator for 30 years, and is currently Arlington's K-12 Director of Visual Arts. He has worked in many media, including oil and acrylic painting, gouache, screen and relief printing, digital art. Muellner's artwork focuses on the intersection between landscape, memory, identity and politics and can be found at leomuellner.com.
