Indian cuisine has grown in popularity in the last few years, though most dishes tend to be from the North. Western India offers a different palate, using tamarind, jaggery, and coconut to create bold, flavorful dishes. Learn to make a sweet-and-spicy shrimp curry flavored with tamarind and cilantro, reminiscent of Thailand’s tom yum, Indian-style home fries, and a beet salad with yogurt and a zing of minced green chili.

Sarita Bhagwat is a long-time Arlington resident, having raised two boys while being a full time working mom. After a long career at an investment bank, she has now started pursuing a career focused in culinary adventures. She specializes in regional Indian cuisine from Maharashtra and Mumbai, and creates fusion dishes using ingredients available in New England marrying them with Indian cooking techniques. Sarita has trained at Le Codon Bleu in London stretching her culinary repertoire to pastries and desserts, Indian and European. When not immersed in cooking or teaching cooking, you will find Sarita hiking at Whipple Hill with her black lab Clifford or practicing ballroom dancing at a studio in Cambridge.
