Adrienne Allen
Adrienne Allen is a Harvard-trained primary care doctor, She has witnessed firsthand how healing the mind can heal the body, both through her own experiences and in her medical practice. At the age of seven, Dr. Allen underwent surgery to remove a kidney after a three-month illness. This was followed by monthly episodes of excruciating back pain, and later, diagnosis of high blood pressure and anxiety. A medical school colleague introduced her to yoga, which gradually alleviated her back pain and offered moments of peace from a busy mind. This sparked her journey into mind-body healing through learning, meditation, and yoga. A decade later, she recognized that her back pain and high blood pressure were largely responses to stress and anxiety. She now practices primary care and is a certified instructor of the Benson-Henry Center’s “Stress Management and Resiliency Training.”
Dr. Allen attended medical school at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, completed her internal medicine residency training at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
