Adult Enrichment / ACE Highlights -
Winter 2026
Did you know that a surprising number of Greater Boston’s most iconic institutions were founded by women? You may already know about the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, but what about Mt. Auburn Hospital, Mass Audubon, or the North Bennett Street School? Discover the hidden history of female founders whose vision shaped the region’s cultural and civic landscape. We’ll trace patterns of leadership and ownership and consider how women have been recognized—or overlooked—as founders, leaders, and stewards of these institutions throughout history.
