Lyman Estate: Mansion & Landscape Tour
In 1793, shipping merchant Theodore Lyman commissioned renowned architect Samuel McIntire to design a stately Federal-style home for his family. Over the next 150 years, four generations of Lymans left their mark on the estate. Step inside the mansion to hear stories of the family and the home’s evolving architecture. Then follow your guide outside to walk the rolling paths and garden trails of the 37-acre estate. Once home to formal gardens, a working farm, greenhouses, and woodlands, the landscape reveals both change and continuity across centuries of stewardship.
